For part of our yoga teacher training, we were asked to pick out a mantra to practice every day. I chose the Siri Gaitri Mantra. The mantra is pronounced “Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Say So Hung” which translates closely to “Sun, Moon, Earth, Infinity, All that is in infinity, I am Thou.”
Personally, I feel this mantra has helped me to feel inner peace and self-love.
According to Yoga Journal, this mantra is used as a restorative meditation to send healing energy to ourselves and others.
In Kundalini Yoga, which incorporates movement, pranayama, meditation, and chanting, the pose is as important as the sound for this mantra. The pose is a comfortable, seated position, with the elbows bent and tucked in firmly alongside the ribcage. Forearms extend out to the sides perpendicularly with palms facing up.
